NEWS & TIPS FOR JUNE 2024

For all of you that have been patiently waiting, we now have Maori seed potatoes in stock with good levels of Whataroa, Karuparera, Kowiniwini, Moemoe, Huakaroro & Waiporoporo selling online & in store in 1, 3 & 6kg bags. Unfortunately again this season Urenika is in very short supply! Because of this, we have had to limit this variety to in store sales only as 5 seed potatoes for $7.50 or 1kg bags for $18. You will see on the website Urenika is sold out! Don’t forget your seed potatoes will need sprouting (chitting) before you get them in the ground, so you still have time to get the soil just right!

There are still some standard varieties that we are waiting to arrive - Rua & Karaka. Check our website or Facebook page for updates over the coming weeks.

Now that winter is here, it's a great time to get rid of all that negative energy and get clipping. Pruning not only encourages better growth and flowering, it helps with air flow amongst the plant canopy and can reduce the potential for disease. We have a wide selection of Wolf tools available which come with a lifetime guarantee - perfect helpers if you’ve got roses or dormant fruit trees to prune this month.

If you don't have any plans to plant over winter, sow a green crop it really is so good for the soil! We have 3 varieties available. Priced from $7.50

Matariki is just around the corner & this year we will be closed for the long weekend including Saturday 29th June for stocktaking and so all our staff can spend time with family. Normal hours resume on Monday 1st July.

We also have some news here at Newton’s, as this email marks my last. After 18 years of calling Newton Seed home, John & I have decided to have a change of direction in our lives, although we’re not sure what that will look like just yet but more time on the golf course will be a must! From next month Newton’s will have a new owner who will continue to sell all your loved products as well as add some new ones to the mix. Tony has over 30 years of experience with turf & lawn seed in Australasia, so we know all our customers will be in safe hands. John will continue to work along side Tony for the next few months, so if you are in store soon, come & say hi!

PRODUCT OF THE MONTH:
Functional secateurs with strength-saving, lever-to-joint transmission & non-stick blades are ideal for use in the front or back garden and in the orchard!
