There isn’t much I don’t enjoy about winter. The often inclement weather provides a ready excuse not to venture out into the garden (for all those pesky tidying chores) or anywhere you would rather not; cooking is so much more enjoyable when it’s cold and the air on a fine winter’s day is crisp and sweet.

Winter has announced its arrival with frosty mornings and chilly evenings and you know what the start of winter marks - seed potato season and that is surely something to celebrate!

Easter is almost here and although there does not seem to be cause for much celebration at the moment - Easter is primarily about hope and renewal. Hope for better times ahead and it does seem that there is some light appearing at the end of the pandemic tunnel; I will take whatever good news I can get! I can also let you know that our pledge to donate a percentage of our online grass seed sales for Ukrainian aid relief has raised over $1000.

These beautiful late summer days make it hard to see how much sorrow has befallen the world. We can only hope that at some point the people that have the power will ultimately choose to do the right thing. In the meantime we will do what we can to show our support for those suffering right now by contributing 5% of our online grass seed sales for the month of March to help those affected by the Ukranian war.

Midsummer is here bringing with it the joys of a new year - long hot blue sky days, stonefruit, icecream, bbqs, the beach and long weekends but also the not so joyful chore of watering the garden, the hot hard to sleep nights, the insects and the return to work. The change of the seasons however brings us some certainty in a world that’s had to deal with a great deal of uncertainty. And with that comes the work we have to do in the garden!
