Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous Earth is fossil shell flour, pest control for birds. It is not only natural but certified organic that provides a fantastic array of uses in the household, on the farm, and in commercial and horticultural applications. When insects move through it, it breaks down their waxy exoskeleton and absorbs their internal oils and fats, causing death by dehydration.

• Target pests- mites, lice fleas and flies
• Application - Dust onto feathers using  a shaker or sprinkle onto bedding and nesting boxes
• Mechanism - Works by drying out insects, it is not immediate, often taking 7 -17 days but is effective over time
• Not as efficient in high humidity

Precaution - The fine dust can cause respiratory irritation for birds and humans. So apply gently and avoid large dust clouds.
